Biography:Richard Atkins was first elected to Ipswich Borough Council in May 2002 as councillor for St Margaret's ward, re-elected in June 2004. He was the parliamentary candidate for the LibDems here in Ipswich in 2005. He is the Portfolio Holder for Planning and Economic Development on the Executive at Ipswich Borough Council. After living for 22 years in Borrowdale Ave in St Margaret's ward, he & his wife have "downsized" and have moved to a smaller house.

Biography:Andrew Cann joined the Liberal Democrats in September 2004. He won his first election in May 2005 becoming County Councillor for St Margarets and Westgate. Born and brought up here, Andrew cares passionately about Ipswich and especially its cultural life. He was instrumental in saving the Corn Exchange from sale by the former Labour Administration. Andrew's father will be well known to many of you. Jamie Cann was MP for Ipswich from 1992 to 2001.

Biography:Jane Chambers caused the shock of election night in May 2002 when she took a seat in the Alexandra ward of Ipswich from Labour. Jane has lived all her life in Ipswich. She is married with two grown up children and is also a grandmother. Her interests and activities are her grandchildren first and foremost. She has been a supporter and volunteer for Victim Support and is now on the Management Committee. Jane also does voluntary work for the Ipswich Credit Union. She is a member of Suffolk Wildlife.

John Cooper

Biography:John Cooper has been a Borough Councillor for more than 30 years. Born, brought up, educated and living his life here, he knows and understands Ipswich as it is and what it could become. This town is literally in his blood. John's passionate commitment to community politics led him to leave the Tories and join, campaign and stand for the Liberal Democrats in 2002. He was re-elected as LibDem ward councillor for St Margaret's on 1st May 2003, and chairs the Development Control committee. He sees the Lib Dem approach to community politics as very much in tune with the way he wants to continue to serve St Margaret's ward and Ipswich. John is well known to many as the Standard Bearer of the Ipswich Branch of the Royal British Legion. He is a keen walker in the countryside in the north Ipswich area.

Andrew Duff

Biography:Since July 1999 Andrew Duff has been the Liberal Democrat Member of the European Parliament for the East of England (representing the counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Suffolk and Norfolk). He is spokesman on constitutional affairs for the European Liberal, Democrat and Reform Group (ELDR), and Vice-President of the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee. From 1999-2000 he was a member of the Convention which drafted the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union as well as Rapporteur for the European Parliament on the Charter. In February 2002 Andrew Duff was elected the ELDR representative on the constitutional Convention on the Future of Europe. He chairs the Liberal caucus in the Convention. He is also Vice-President of the European Parliament delegation to the Convention.
