Caring About Streetcare

3.50.30pm BST (GMT +0100) Mon 24th Oct 2005

Our Street-care workers are a real asset to the Town. The service the provides is of a very high standard and widely appreciated.

The future of their service, however, was threatened by the Government regulations that put the viability of the team at risk.

Inga LOCKINGTON and Richard ATKINS with the support of the Borough Lib Dem Team have acted to secure Street-care's long term future by voting to establish the team as an 'arms length' company free to develop it's services in partnership with the Council.

We believe this is good news for the tax payer as well as for the long term stability of Street-care.

Of course it goes without saying Labour opposed these plans.
