New Town Hall Customer Service Centre gets 5,000 visits a week12.27.35pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 8th Jun 2006
The one-ipswich Customer Services Centre is th new help centre for all Ipswich Borough and Suffolk County Council enquiries in the newly refurbished Ipswich Town Hall. The one-stop-shop combines the services available at Civic Centre with the booking facilities previously at the Town Hall site. The location was chosen to take into account ease of access and being right in the middle of the town centre makes the services on offer that much more available to the public. Councillor Phil Green, Lib Dem portfolio holder for communities and responsible for the one-stop-shop, said 'The success of the customer service centre shows what joined up thinking can achieve for the public. There are a myriad of services available here right at the centre of the town. Having all the services under one roof is a real bonus. You can come in here to pay your Council Tax, buy a ticket for the latest entertainment at The Regent and then have a one-to-one consultation with one of the Borough Council advisers. More than 1,000 people have already had an in-depth interview and this level of advice is very valuable to them. The opening hours also allow many town centre workers to pop in before or after work, again making interaction with the Borough Council that much easier. The customer services centre is open 8am to 6pm weekdays and 9.30am to 12.30pm Saturdays. Please avoid peak hours 11am - 3pm if you can in order to get a quick service.
