Cann fights to halt cuts to Ipswich Headway and Age Concern ACCESS9.50.05am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 6th Sep 2006
Local Lib Dem Cllr. Andrew Cann has called on the Conservative County Administration to halt it's cuts to the Age Concern ACCESS service and East Suffolk and Ipswich Headway. The Age Concern ACCESS service provides assessment, advice and support to people with dementia and their carers. There is no replacement for this service. Headway provide rehabilitative care aiming to get head injury patients back to normal life or as good as possible quickly. Again there is no other provider for this service. Andrew Cann said: "It's a value for money organisation that gets people who would not otherwise be able to return to work back into employment quickly. It does not make sense clinically or financially to withdraw this funding and I am asking the county council to urgently review its decision."
