Ipswich awarded 'Respect' status in recognition of tackling anti-social behaviour2.02.03pm GMT Mon 22nd Jan 2007
Ipswich Liberal Democrats are proud that Ipswich has been chosen for funding in the first wave of 'Respect' Areas. This will mean we get more funding in Ipswich to tackle anti-social behaviour because we have shown we know how to tackle the problem. Ipswich has achieved this by demonstrating a strong track record in tackling anti-social behaviour, and a willingness and capacity to do more. Community Safety has been the responsibility of the Liberal Democrats at the Borough Council for some time and it seems the hard work of the officers is being recognised. In order to continue receiving funding for respect Ipswich Borough Council will need to implement: Family Intervention Projects to tackle 'neighbours from hell'. More parenting classes for parents struggling with troublesome children Face the people sessions where the police, local authorities and others can be accountable to their local public Keep up relentless action to tackle anti-social behaviour by using the full range of tools and powers available Using the Respect Housing Standard to prevent and deal with any problems in Social Housing.
