Ipswich Labour votes against Labour Government!2.35.44pm GMT Fri 2nd Mar 2007 The Labour government has proposed various ways of "modernising local government". The LibDems in Ipswich followed the lead of their LibDem colleagues in Cambridge and supported one such move, which means that more important decisions will be taken by accountable, elected councillors rather than the staff. Ipswich Labour voted en bloc against their own government's proposal! This just goes to confirm our impression that Labour councillors did very little in their last years in charge at Ipswich Borough. Perhaps they are worried about having too much work to do should they ever get re-elected in Ipswich... (they needn't worry too much on that score!)
