Broom Hill Pool, shut by Labour, could re-open as soon as 2009

An important milestone has been reached with the Broom Hill Pool project.

Following the Borough Council accepting the feasibility study provided by the friends of Broom Hill Pool heads of terms are being negotiated with the Broom Hill Trust for a 25 year lease. Once in place the Trust will be able to commence discussions with operators. This could mean that the pool could re-open as early as 2009 if the trust is able to secure an operator and the capital funding required.

Ipswich Borough Council has pledged £1m of the estimated £3.4m for the renovation to the project.

Labour continue to be dismissive of the Pool, it's supporters and the people who so want to use it. This is perhaps unsurprising giving Labours decision to close the Pool after running it down for years.
