Talking CCTV comes to Ipswich under the Lib Dems

Ipswich Borough Council has now deployed another weapon in our battle against criminals, louts and litter bugs - the talking camera. 4 cameras have been adapted in order that control room staff can talk to people in Lloyds Avenue, Tower Street, Dog's Head Street and Old Foundry Road.

The sites have been chosen because they are busy day and night.

Control operators will be able to tell people to pick up litter, shame others and warn criminals they are being watched.

These cameras make up a network of 200 cameras that are monitored by Ipswich Borough Council from a state-of-the-art control room at Grafton House.

Following the Lib Dems securing 'Respect' status for Ipswich far more is now being done to tackle street crime and anti-social behaviour. We also introduced fines for litter louts.

Ipswich Liberal Democrats are taking community safety seriously and getting things done rather than just moaning about them.
