Government underfunding of Suffolks NHS means every patient is £161 each worse off.

7.39.07pm GMT Thu 21st Jun 2007

As reported previously on this website the Government has underfunded Suffolks NHS for years. This continues, adding pressure to the budgets of Primary Care Trusts in Suffolk and of course Ipswich Hospital.

Figures released this yea show that in 2007/08 Suffolk's NHS funding per head of the population is 88pc of the national average.

Suffolk will receive £1,227 per head compared with a national average of £1,388.

Liberal Democrats were disappointed in the recent elections to hear of Labour candidates on the doorstep blaming NHS staff for the financial problems in the NHS. We suggest they should look at their own government first.
