Ipswich prostitution strategy making progress

7.31.13pm GMT Tue 10th Jul 2007

Sustained and co-ordinated action to tackle the causes of street prostitution is getting results.

After 51 arrests of kerb-crawlers so far and extensive support for prostitutes to come off the streets both demand and supply are being addressed.

23 particularly vulnerable prostitutes have been identified and 11 of them are now being given support and advice from police and other agencies to assist them in getting out of the sex industry.

Whilst there is a long way to go Ipswich Lib Dems are pleased with the progress so far and through our responsibility for community safety in Ipswich are ensuring that these measures get our fullest support.
