Cllr. Louise Gooch (seen here with Cllr. Jane Chambers) has been at the forefront of Ipswich Borough Councils environmental policy.

Ipswich Liberal Democrats have ensured that the Borough Council continues to lead on environmental issues with the recruitment of two climate change officer posts.

These officers will focus on community groups working towards a more sustainable lifestyle, and examining our own properties and seeing what we can do to eliminate waste. Much of the cost of the posts will be recovered from the savings made through reducing energy wastage.

The Environment portfolio had been run by the Liberal Democrats for nearly 4 years now. In that time recycling rates have soared in the town, we have taken big strides towards a 'plastic bag free town' and work continues on the boroughs first renewable energy schemes.
